Five parts in four volumes, 8vo (22x14,5 cm for texts volumes and 22x17 cm for the Atlas) :
V1 : (10, frontispiece included)-xxv-(3 blank)-344-(8) pages.
V2 : (4)-346-(5+1 blank) pages
V3 : (4)-150-(2 blanks)-(4)-137-(3 blanks) pages
V4 (Atlas) : 48 copperplates and one plate (dimensions : 30x20 cm).  binding: Contemporary quarter calf, gilt flat spine.  Some foxing. Binding slightly rubbed.

Second edition. This book, which deals with histological investigations on the anatomy of the human body, animals, and plants, was first published at Florence in 1819. An accompanying atlas contained twenty copperplates.
The arrangement of the text and illustrations were not well received and Tommaso Farnese, a Milanese surgeon and teacher, prepared and edited this second edition.
This second edition "is to be preferred" (Choulant).
Good copy, complete with the 48 copperplates.
