Mesmer reproduced in the late eighteenth century the same theory, as a general principle of physics, and as a special agent and healing.
Goclenius mixes the physical processes with exorcisms, which were primarily intended to act on the imagination.
This doctrine, which had many supporters, found in the world a lot of opponents, at whose head we must place the Jesuit Roberti, who published a paper denouncing idolatry of Protestants and their propensity for magic and witchcraft.
Bound with the first edition of Tractatus De Portentosis.
