The botanical course of Dijon, provided by Jean -François Durande, was officially opened in June 1773.

This manuscript from 1777 is particularly interesting because it predates the first printed edition ( [Durande], Notions élémentaires de botanique, 1781).

This manuscript give a description of the plants divided into 17 classes (as in the book) followed by a catalog of trees.

If most classes are the same as in the book, there are some differences. For exemple, classes 12, 13 and 14 in the manuscript roughly correspond to class 4 of the book. The first class is completely revised.
