Two 8vo (200x120 mm), portrait-frontispiece, xvi-608 pages and 4 folding plates / c-xvi-481 pages and two folding plates. Some preliminary leaves misbound. 
binding: Contemporary full mottled sheep, spine gilt in six compartments, red edges. 
Foxing. Binding rubbed, caps and corners worn. Joints splitting but sound.


LEBLANC (Louis), surgeon of the Hotel Dieu d'Orléans, Royal School professor of surgery in the same city, member of the Royal Academy of Surgery and Science of Rouen and Dijon.

He published in 1766 a method to operate hernia by dilatation of the ring ('Nouvelle méthode d'opérer les hernies").

The second volume of his "opérations de chirurgie" is a new printing of this work.

The first volume deals with various surgical operations and ends with a treatise on the formation of sandstone and diseases affecting the workers.

Second edition of this rare work.
